Why You Need a Diaper Party
Diaper parties are about diapers, yes, but they’re also about your baby daddy getting a last hurrah with his friends before his life morphs into that of constant baby care. He needs it, his friends need it, its good for everyone. Diapers are something that every baby uses, whether cloth or disposable, so theres a functional aspect too.
Your friends want to feel like they’re contributing to your baby. Sure they’ll disappear once you need a sitter, because you’ve had every dinner at home for a year, but before that baby gets there…. lol.
Diaper parties are easy to plan. The host calls all of the friends and tells them what diapers to get (or you could do a registry if you don’t think people will remember sizes), Alex bought a nice bottle of booze for the host, and the host picked up beer and pizza for the guys. They had fun, so simple. I’ve seen recommendations online, most that say ask for 2 boxes of newborn diapers….. our oldest fit new born diapers for a week, and our second was in size 2 diapers at birth… two boxes of newborn diapers is nonsense. here’s what I would recommend for disposable diapers
Newborn- 2 BAGS or a small box
Size1- 1-2 large boxes
Size 2- 4 Large boxes
Size 3- Four Large Boxes
Size 4- Five Boxes
Unless you have a f#$K ton of friends, I would stop there. You’re not gonna want to store 30 cases of diapers in your home.
For Cloth, I would say having forty diapers, and 80 liners and cleaning equipment would be good options for people to bring… or gift certificates to a diaper service if that’s the route you’re planning on taking.
We didn’t buy any diapers for the first seven months of Cole’s (our oldest’s) life. It was nice to not have to worry about that. I believe we were gifted with 12 cases of disposable diapers, and I had also purchased about 15 cloth diapers, which have all come in handy many, many times over since.
