10 Foods to Pre Make and FREEZE for Nights When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking

Published by Jenny on

I clean a bit everyday and I have a child, so I do a certain amount of cooking every day. I also get up and make coffee and pack Alex’ lunch since he’s the only one working full-time outside of our house right now. I’m sure astute homemakers are cringing at the idea of reheating foods for your family, and others are asking why I’m packing lunch for a grown ass man, but it is what it is… can I leave it at that?

If Alex ends up working from home at some point, more tasks will be shared, but he’s been great during this pregnancy with helping out, and I don’t feel like less of a person for it. Sometimes, I’m tired. I’m 35 years old and growing a human while taking care of a toddler and simultaneously working part-time (albeit, largely for the sake of my mental well-being).

Excuses aside, this post is about pre-cooking foods so I can have an evening without a lot of food prep.

So ONTO THE FOODS…..

There are things that freeze well and there are other things that just don’t. Here are some of the items I pre make and freeze, so I don’t have to do more than reheating on those pesky no-energy days. I will upload my own personal recipes and you’ll be able to click on each of these to see both recipes and photos.

  1. Chili & Soups
  2. Salmon Cakes
  3. Pasta Sauce and Pasta (I store them separately)
  4. Chicken or “chicken” salad
  5. Bacon
  6. Taco Meat or “meat”
  7. French Toast
  8. Cut Fruit
  9. Par-baked fries that can be crisped in the over when you’re ready.
  10. Breakfast Sandwiches
