Holiday Toy Guide: 2018
The holidays are coming up unbelievably quickly. A part of me isn’t concerned. I know what our three-year-old likes, and our one-year-old has eight million hand-me-down toys, not including whatever gift we get him… and our toddler isn’t a picky guy, but what worries me is the speed at which his tastes change. Also, he just started preschool, so he may start to want toys he sees or hears about, which was never an issue before.
I’ve tentatively decided to just buy what he likes now, but I may add something else later… I’m on a tangent… the toys we will be picking up are as follows….
- https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-DUPLO-Town-Toddler-Truck/dp/B01CU9WL5A/ref=sr_1_4?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1536631562&sr=1-4&keywords=duplo+lego+sets+for+boys
I Like this set because its small. Our little dude gets very emotional when blocks fall apart, so a huge set isn’t ideal. This will make him happy when he opens it, however.
- HOT WHEELS – Both of our kids are obsessed with hot wheels AND Matchbox cars. This set is great, and we can totally hide a few and gradually hand them to the boys. This is also a nice gift from a parent’s perspective because it doesn’t make noise, and they take up very little space. https://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-Gift-Pack-Styles/dp/B0007R4J30/ref=sr_1_6?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1536631828&sr=1-6&keywords=matchbox+cars
3. Green Toys! We love green toys and buy Cole one of these each year. This will be his fourth Christmas, so he’s already developing quite the collection. This year we wanted to get him a bigger boat for bath time, and Green Toys has just the right option. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BN6QAVI/ref=sxts_kp_bs_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=8778bc68-27e7-403f-8460-de48b6e788fb&pd_rd_wg=POiLN&pf_rd_r=TPTX6BYVCD2DH60BH4D2&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-top-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B00BN6QAVI&pd_rd_w=2zhc3&pf_rd_i=green+toys&pd_rd_r=74e32366-780d-4d83-83fe-f88a37b10f09&ie=UTF8&qid=1536632134&sr=1
That’s it for our three-year-old for now. He really doesn’t need more. I BEG people not to bring them stuff… we’re still in an apartment until something magical happens with the housing market here, but people still give them S#@t. With that said, even if no one bought them anything, I would still but them only a few toys. They don’t need more, and I want to impart a spirit of giving not taking. The world doesn’t need any more entitled people. They’ll be happy with anything, because we already instill in them the need to be grateful. Truly thankful.
4. This is cool because its musical. Our boys both love music and dancing and this is a nice (small) choice. I also really love having wooden toys in the house. No clue why, but I really like them.

5. Radio Flyer Retro Rocket. This one is at Hayneedle. We need another ride on toy, because Cole won’t share with little Silas. This is perfect and not crazy expensive. Also, its made by Radio Flyer which is a fave for kids ride on and ride in equipment.
6. Lastly, I need to buy a couple “toys” for my partner-in-crime. Saying he’s young at heart would be the understatement of the year. Here are the silly things I’m looking at for him (up for his final say, so we don’t have more crap no one wants lying around).
Contact Lens Case… This is a bit pricey with this seller, but I think I can shop around before the holiday season is fully upon us. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-117182-37290-0/2?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fp%2F3d-Glasses-Contact-Lens-Case%2F1773165359%3Fiid%3D222840435546%26chn%3Dps&itemid=222840435546&targetid=477926085516&device=c&adtype=pla&googleloc=9016852&poi=&campaignid=1488062876&adgroupid=57569192076&rlsatarget=pla-477926085516&abcId=1139326&merchantid=101490756&gclid=CjwKCAjwrNjcBRA3EiwAIIOvq_22qdw8mCe5FapW8FFatpeghUuYqFjI4voBwm56B3XvJ0gr8tKL3xoChHgQAvD_BwE
7. Cards Against Humanity. I buy a couple expansions each year.

That’s about it for now. More-to-come soon.
