10 Blogs You Should Be Reading if You’re a Parent

1 . Potty Mouth Parents!

I would be doing you and my family a terrible injustice if I didn’t mention our very own blog. You should read this on because we really do care about your experience as parents. We’re not people that sugar coat too much, and we’re imperfect as people and as parents, but like so many parents, we do try and we do strive to be a little better than the day before. I have a Potty Mouth, too. =)

Our blog is special, because we offer lots of free advice, resources that we love, recipes we enjoy (even for the naughty beverages just for the grownups, because sometimes a cocktail is just good, especially for parents), and we love to respond to comments!

we will do everything from just sharing our experiences, good or not-so-good all the way to helping you get your own blog up-and-running.

2.  LemonLimeAdventures.com

I believe this blog used to be called Dirt and Boogers…. Today, its the ultimate one-stop place for sensory dough recipes… very worth the stop. There are so many different types. Our kids are traditionalists with their homemade playdough, but theres something for every kid, and hours upon hours of fun that doesn’t include screen time! They’re all pretty easy to make, too!

Aside from dough, there are a bunch of resources there for behavioral help, including helping you put together Intentional Spaces… I really enjoy it.

3. HappyYouHappyFamily.com I like this site, because I’m not a bubbly, saccharine sweet kinda Mom, and the site is! It’s nice to read about positivity and kindness. She talks a lot about patience and keeping your cool with your kids and also touches on motivating kids. Stuff we discuss in our blog, but with a cheerier, sweeter outlook. =)

4. RaiseVegan.com While my boys are not vegan, I am headed back that way (I consumed fish after a 20 year hiatus from all meat when I got pregnant and continued eating fish while I was nursing). What I love about this site is that its a community so you get a variety of voices with their blog. They discuss lots of health issues, not all specific to veganism, I should mention, and touch on a wide array of topics, from parenting to postpartum depression to sustainable living. Its well researched and well written.

5. BlackMomsBlog.com So I came across this blog while I was still nursing (and struggling with nursing). I’m not African American, that’s so true, but the best part is you don’t need to be to appreciate this amazing blog. So yeah, great words there on nursing, but also on getting back on track after baby is born, both physically and otherwise.

The shop also has some pretty adorable stuff.

for people starting a blog… Shanicia, the creator of the blog is a great example for people starting a blog, of having a niche that’s not too big or too small.

6.  JeffRose.com Okay, so this isn’t a parenting blog, but he’s wicked smart and has really solid financial advice. Having an MBA, this was the direction I wanted to go in originally, but parenting happened, so I’m keeping financial advice on my blog to the basics. He goes pretty in depth.

Parents should be investing. Its for yourself but its also for your kids. He talks about life insurance both from a positive perspective and ALSO delves into the negatives. He’s got a pretty grounded approach to financial planning. I love this blog. Its been helpful for me with Roth IRA planning.

7. SumonSleeve.com This is a blog by a Chinese Canadian Blogger. She’s very down-to-Earth and can be pretty funny. Her posts are generally very quick reads, I like this when I need something quick to read.

8. Wanderlustwithmykids.com This is a travel blog from a Mum that travels with her husband and two kids. We haven’t travelled far with our kids yet, but this will be our first stop in planning. They even have hotel reviews. Its a cute site, and they travel enough where it stays pretty interesting.

9. Mamassaywhat.com Is fun because its a collaborative group of Moms from all over the place. There are some really cute activity ideas, recipes, cleaning advice…. its a pretty broad spectrum of information, and the site is really easy to navigate.

10. TeachMama.com I LOVE THIS ONE. There are so many cool teaching tips for getting your kids prepared to learn. She was a teacher and the site goes though Reading, Math, Science, etc. Its a bit of a one-stop-shop. Super easy to navigate, too.
